I'm making just a few more covers available for sale. Please see the previous post for new images.
I have a few fumetti cover paintings to sell. I will likely post a few more soon.
Email me if interested. [email protected]. On January 23rd Alessandro Biffignandi passed away. Biffignandi was one of the biggest names in fumetti art. He was also known for his Italian movie poster illustrations and cover art for the British Fleetway action and war comics. Having communicated with him by email in recent years I found him him to be a shy but sweet and friendly man. He was still a masterful painter in his 80's doing commissions for friends and collectors. Many of us feel like we've lost a friend.
I've been busy getting settled in North Carolina. I will post more cover images soon. Meantime, here's a link to a site that collected the original reference sources that the artists used when designing covers. Fumetti artists rarely had time to hire and pose models so they would refer to magazines for model poses. Sometimes the publisher would hand them a magazine cover or movie poster and ask the artist to essentially replicate it with only a few minor changes. A lot of the covers referenced on this page are by lesser artists but learning about their sources is an interesting exploration. http://www.elvifrance.fr/images/couvertures/sourcescouv.htm
Check out the new cover art I just added to the Pino D'angelico gallery.
Just added three more covers to Emanuele Taglietti's gallery. Still many more to come!
